Patient Care Technician - 3ES Med Surgical (Full time) Evenings

Shift:
Full time, Evenings, Every other weekend, 32 hrs/weekShift hours:
3pm-11:
30pmReporting to the Clinical Manager or designee, with accountability to the care team, provides basic nursing and personal care to patients as delegated by and under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age(s) of the patients served on the assigned unit.
Provides patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Assists patients with personal care needs such as bathing, hair care, mouth care, foot care, eating, use of bedpan or urinal, positioning, answering and responding to patient call lights, bed making, etc.
Obtains patient temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, saturation of peripheral oxygen reading, input and output checks, accu-checks, and reports abnormalities to the appropriate individual.
Performs procedures such as thermal applications, enema care, perineal care, insertion of rectal tubes, emptying of foley bags, application of restraints, backrubs, etc.
Collects specimens such as urine, feces, sputum, and delivers as necessary.
Documents basic patient care, supply and equipment orders (i.
e.
specimen collections, basic labs, diet orders, EKG's) as directed per unit protocol, into the electronic medical record.
Transports medications, which are not controlled substances.
May be authorized to access secured medication storage locations to perform job related functions.
Assists nursing and clerical staff with admitting, discharging, transferring, ambulating, transporting, and observing patients to ensure safety as directed.
May perform duties of an Observation Assistant as needed.
Provides for care of equipment and supplies on unit as assigned.
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships.
Acts with integrity, consistency and respect for differing views.
Identifies factors that interfere with effective team functioning and contributes in a resolution.
Treats each individual with compassion, respect and integrity.
Adheres to all Northwest Community Hospital standards, policies, and procedures.
High school diploma required or 5 years' experience as a CNA/PCT with 3 years' minimum experience in an acute care setting.
Completion of an Accredited Certified Nursing Assistance (CNA) course, EMT or paramedics training course, or current enrollment in an accredited nursing program with completion of at least one major clinical medical or surgical rotation required.
Current CPR certification from America Heart Association.
Knowledge of and/or experience in the correct use of body mechanics.
Data entry or order entry experience on a computer preferred.
The interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with patients, families, physicians, and other hospital staff.
The organization skills necessary to prioritize and accomplish multiple work assignments in a proficient manner under minimal supervision.

The ability to proficiently navigate computer software systems with accurate keyboard skills for the entry and retrieval of patient data.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Requires continuous standing and walking for most of shift.
Requires frequent bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, and overhead reaching and frequent lifting and carrying of 15 lbs.
to 30 lbs.
Requires occasional lifting and carrying of 30 lbs.
to 70 lbs.
and occasional pushing/pulling of up to 300 lbs in wheeled equipment.
Flow of work requires concentrated mental, visual, and auditory attention.
Concentrated mental, visual, and auditory attention combined with manual dexterity is required for sustained periods of time.
Requires visual acuity adequate to assess patients and read/record patient charts.
Requires auditory acuity adequate to converse with patients, take phone orders, and receive directions from physicians and coworkers who are wearing masks.
WORKING CONDITIONS Conditions are acceptable.
At least one disagreeable element or hazard is frequently present in the environment, i.
e.
infectious diseases.
Other disagreeable elements or hazards which may occasionally be present include biophysical hazards and high pressure medical gases.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
